Still can't update to SP2

I'm hoping someone can help. I have tried numerous times to install SP2 with
no success. I have followed all of the guides and how to instructions. I have
swept for spyware and adware, update windows, updated virus scanners etc etc.
I still can't install. Everything downloads ok and then when it installs and
restarts i get the blue flashing light on the windows screen instead of the
green one. Then it declines to start and I have to start in safe mode and
roll back the installation.
Any further ideas ?? Keep it simple please

Hi Russ,

If you've already tried everything you could, may I suggest you do a fresh
install (after backing up the data.) But this time with a slipstreamed
Windows XP CD with Service Pack 2 integration.
