XP SP2 Firewall question

I have EZ lite Firewall and eTrust EZ antivirus. If I turn off the SP2
firewall, I get the "Security alert" in the systray, even though the EZ
firewall is active. Is there any way round this?

You need to turn off the Security Center Service. Open, Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Services, scroll to Security Center, right click,
select Properties, under Startup Type on the General tab, select Disabled,
click apply and ok.

Go to the Security Center in the Control Panel and tell it that you will
monitor the Antivirus and Firewall status yourself. This will stop the
warnings. When both programs you are using are updated to be able to report
its status to the Security Center, you can then turn it back on.

Thanks very much - probably a better solution than turning the Security
centre service off!

I apologize, I hadn't seen that option before and you are right, if it
resolves the issue, it is better than turning off the Security Center
Service.

close!
