XP shut down

Hi,
I have just upgraded from W/98 to XP.
Everything is fine except Windows will not shut down. It gets to "It is now
safe to switch off your computer" but it won`t powerdown by itself.
There are not conflict hardware in Device Manager.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

This is related to the ability of the hardware to use the Advanced Power
Management. Did you update the bios prior to the load? If not, there is
documentation regarding this.
