XP Should Have DVD & Other Apps

Just curious as to why Microsoft didn't include their own
DVD player software in Media Player? Did the other
companies like WinDVD or PowerDVD not let Microsoft put
one in Windows. I hope Longhorn has one built in.
Microsoft should also build in their own PDF viewer, anti-
virus software and their media player would play alll
media file formats including Real Player and Quicktime.
I know third party apps are available but I think it
would be cool, so you could just install Windows and
Office and thats it on your PC. I guess MS would put
alot of companies out of business if theiy did all of
that. :)

.
Every time MS ads a function to Windows that is also done
by 3rd party software, the Windows version is not so
great. Isn't Windows already bloated enough?

And you're a stupid troll. I doubt even the MicroFaithful around here want
to see much more added to the base OS.

For free? or do you want them to force some people to pay for apps they
don't like?

A matter of licensing. It would have involved Microsoft laying out a
substantial fee for every machine - many of which will never want to
play a DVD movie. Also in MSoft seeming to be playing favorites as
between suppliers, which it would not want in the present legal cases.
It is strongly arguable hat WMP should not be included *at all* as being
an application that should be provided outside the provision of an OS,
as for example, Office is

I'd like them to be free. I'd also like to
report "kurttrail"
(e-mail address removed) as a Troll ban
him from this web site. He keeps calling me a Troll. I
didn't think my post was Trolling. I like Microsoft
products.

Because every customer would have to pay royalities, incl most who don't use it. MS already pays lots of royalities on your behalf (to view jpeg files for one).

If lots of people start playing DVD on their computers then they'll include it and increase the price. Most people use a DVD player and a TV. But if MS included it they'll have to pay for something they don't use.

Your the troll.

Why! Because I point the truth, and that shakes the foundations of your
nice little MicroDream world?
If you don't have anything good to say
than don't post in here.

Sorry, this group really needs my Moderating services. To keep you
chicken-sh*t morons that hide behind the anonymity of the CDO interface in

The CDO deal is the worst _FEATURE_ that ever happened to these
newsgroups.
