XP Service Packs

Hi all,

I have a couple of questions regarding XP on service packs:
1) how would you know whether an XP installation has SP1 installed already?
SP2 already?
2) does SP2 includes patches for SP1 as well? or do i have to install SP1
first and then SP2?

Thanks a lot in advance,
John

SP2 contains everything you need. No need to do SP1 first.

Right click "My computer". Properties will show you what service pack, if
any, is installed.

Open Control Panel, open System, if there are any service packs installed,
it will tell you under System on the General tab. SP2 brings the system up
to date to the time it SP2 was released. In other words, you don't need to
install SP1 in order to install SP2 and as noted, SP2 brings the system up
to date up to the time it was released. Any patches since the release of
SP2 can be obtained from Windows Update.
