XP Search doesn't open at all....

Hello all,

After installing XP 2 and then applying some Windows updates, my DELL
notebook no longer opens the Search window if I select SEARCH from the
Start menu or do a Windows key + F.

I've tried all the usual fixes - reinstalling the srchasst.inf files
etc.. and other things suggested in this group and on
kellys-korner-xp.com - nothing works. The Search window doesn't even
open or give any error messages.

There's no viruses, the machine is fully patched, I'm a local admin
etc.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try:-
Start>Run>Type in "regsvr32 /i shell32"(without any quotes)>ok.
