XP Registry Repair

As opposed to a registry "cleaner", is there any software that can scan a
registry in XP and repair it; e.g., adding necessary entries that may have
gone missing or broken?

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP1 with all patches applied.

Hi Wayne

Have you got a problem with the Registry - normally it doesn't need
repairing unless it has become corrupt.

Have you got a problem with the Registry - normally it doesn't need

Actually, not at present. However, I recently had enough problems that
forced me to reformat and reinstall the OS and all other software. I'd
like to avoid this in the future. I tried a "repair install" but nothing
improved.

I've been making much more frequent backups since the reinstall.
