Everytime I insert a CD/DVD disc into my Pioneer DVD ROM,
windows XP reboots once disc starts fast spin cycle.

Anybody got any ideas how to get rid of this anoying
problem?

I tryed lookig at the event logs, and there is sequence
of logs I think are related to the issue since they all
refer to the driver associated to the DVD ROM. See below:

I have seen this before with a DVD/CD-ROM and/or software that was
defective. Check your DVD software and DVD-ROM for any updates or error
problems at the manufacturer web site. Check your DVD's surfaces to see if
there are any similar scratches in them that could show the drive is
scratching them.
If everything is seems OK with then you might try the following steps,
if you feel comfortable accomplishing the task:

Remove the DVD from the system in the control panel in Safe Mode, turn off
the computer disconnect the computer from power, disconnect the power cord
from the drive and reboot the computer, remove any DVD software that you
installed. Shutdown, reconnect the DVD power and reinstall the device, but
NOT the DVD software when prompted by Windows. Now insert a regular CD-ROM
and see if it will play music and browse data. If everything is OK
reinstall the DVD software, reboot and place a DVD in the drive, when you
close the DVD drive press the shift key.
See if you can browse the DVD, if everything is fine then play a DVD
and see what happens. If it fails again most likely your DVD drive is
defective. You can pick up a DVD drive for about $36, so it shouldn't be a
strain on the budget. Hopefully you are not using laptop.
