If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:
Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.
Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.
This should halt the rebooting problem.
Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

| I searched the forums for an answer to the reboot problem in my XP Home "NT authority system rpc remote
procedure call service terminated unexpectantly" . They said updating Windows to the new SP (I have 2002)
will correct the problem. DOES anyone know how I can use the Window Update when I can't keep the PC from
rebooting every 2 minutes. Can I use my firewall to block the RPC somehow?
| Thanks for any help/suggestions.
