XP Prof shut downs ok but restarts (arghh)

When I upgraded to XP Prof my computer would Shutdown to
the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen
then I'd have to manually power off the computer.
Per MSKB #313290 I enabled Advanced Power Management
Support ...now it does complete the shutdown but
immediately reboots! Per MSKB #320299 I disabled
the "Automatically restart" feature in the Startup &
Recovery options...no change.

Any other ideas how to keep the computer from rebooting
after Shutdown? Thanks
