XP problems after installing a new HDD

I installed a new Seagate HDD into my PC using the vendor supplied software
DiscWizard. I selected the option to make the new HDD the 'C' drive and my
previous 'C' drive becoming the slave.
All appeared to go well however, I find that XP now has a few problems.
1. Start --> All programs show a number of folders as 'empty' even though
the software is there ?? Starting MS applications via My Computer come up
with 'Window Installer' errors requiring I load the source CD ??
2. Try to remove programs via Add/Remove programs does not work ... one
error I got is 'The setting of the installer is not enough. setup is aborted'
3. I cannot format my old 'C' drive - 'Windows cannot format the drive .....'

Is there anything I can do to 'refresh' XP or something to clean all this up
??

Can you complete the picture.

What was the original C Drive, and was the hard drive physically partitioned
to C Drive and D Drive.

Sounds like you have an OEM PC [made by IBM, Compaq etc] and it had a
'hidden' partition with restore files on it.

Thus the Windows Registry entries which would point to D Drive are now in
error.

If the original C Drive is still intact, then you could examine it again and
'look' for the partition or D Drive on it.
