Question Since I need to reinstall Windows Xp. Which would be better
Windows XP SP2 on a Celeron 2.4 gig or Windows XP SP2 Professional A
Dell 8400 P4 800 mhz? I figure I need a clean install so which would
be better and more stable for the future?

Hi Bobb:

WOW big question in a little box!! The choice between XP Home or Pro is of
course dependent upon your needs. I think most domestic users would be quite
content with XP Home. If you have a need for more security, such as in a
business environment, Pro might have an advantage for you, for example, in
the areas of:

Encrypted File System
Domain Accounts & Roaming User
Permissions/rights for users/groups
Control of Simple File Sharing
Other user policies (passwords, etc.)

Some "deficiencies" in XP Home can be worked around adequately with careful
editing of the registry and use of Safe Mode.

What, specifically are your needs?

Well better control of my Home network. Better control of my system
when running various databases.
Also which is better a Celeron 2.4 gig processor or a Pr 800 MHz.
Processor.

The thing come with Professional, it was given to my wife so she could
upgrade her machine which is an a Packard bell Pentium from I think
the 17th century.

Well once again I show my ignorance, the front bus is 800 MHz. The P4
is actually 3 gig or so. No question that is the system to go
with!!!!!!!!!!
