XP Won't Start

Recently ran into a problem with my office computer. Searched the forum, but
haven't come across the same problem - I'll continue to search, but I'm in a
bit of a panic to get this fixed sooner than later as I need access to some
work files on one of the drives.

System is running Win XP SP2. Computer has been stable & no hardware,
software or system updates have been done in the past week. There have been
some power outages occuring recently, so I'm not sure if that caused a
problem. About 2 days ago, the computers started to get stuck in sleep mode
- moving the mouse, etc would not 'awake' the system, so a reboot was
necessary. The problem was somewhat intermitents, but happend most
frequently if the computer remained in sleep mode for several hours. This
morning however, the system would not boot at all. It doesn't get as far as
a Windows Splash Screen or anything, it just plain & simple won't boot
(moniter stays asleep, doesn't display blue screen, or any text). Pushing
the power button causes the fan to start spinning, hard drive makes noise,
etc, but then there is nothing. I'm searching franticaly around the office
to find an XP boot diskette, but cannot find one (there are no other
computers in the office with a floppy drive so I can't make one easily).
I've tried putting in the XP CD & seeing if it will boot to CD, but nothing
happens. I 'unplugged' the harddrive & flopply drive & tried booting to CD,
but again nothing. Since I'm not getting anything on screen I'm not sure how
I can get into the BIOS to try & change the boot order to boot to CD.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Bonnie, I would try pulling the plug on the Computer. Just for about ten
seconds and then put the plug back in. You could
also while the plug is pulled disconnect the Monitor connector and
reinstall it.
