XP Pro SP2 and pcAnywhere

I have installed SP2 for XP Pro. Also just recently purchased pcAnywhere.
It is going nowhere. I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 ver 2 connected to my Westell
DSL modem. No matter how I reconfigure things, I can not get through. I
have removed the router and cabled directly to the modem. No luck. I have
checked all of my completely up to date Norton Internet Security config's, no
luck.

I installed Dyn IP Client. Doesn't help.

I was able to hook up my laptop (Win98) to a dial up modem and then reach it
from the XP Pro computer, but not vice versa.

I have done all of the port forwarding stuff when the Router in the loop.
The problem is either XP SP2 or the westell modem. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated so that I can get the XP computer to function as a host.

Is the Windows Firewall enabled? Is port forwarding configured there as
well? Are these ports open?
5631/tcp 5631/udp 5632/tcp 5632/udp

(I also use a Westell DSL modem and have never had to change anything there
for PC Anywhere, so I doubt the problem is there.)

Norton Internet Security Firewall is active and the XP Firewall is disabled.
Port Forwarding was configured for both 5631 and 5632.

Interestingly enough I am able to connect through my Windows based network,
and then only after I choose not to specify to which network I am connecting,
but rather allowing the program to search for all available connections. I
guess less is more.
