XP Pro Install Problem - Missing or corrupt hal.dll

I am installing a xp pro on new 250 gb sata drive. When XP tried to reboot
first time during install it said it missing or corrupt ntoskernl.dll. I
tried new install again and now I get missing or corrupt hal.dll.

Note: I noticed when XP asks which partition I want to install on I
initially see two: one is about 8(mb or gb don't remember) and the other
238GB. I tried deleting the 8 mb/gb but can't so I deleted the 238gb
partition and start over. However same problem with missing or corrupt
hal.dll.

Assistance is appreciated.

As strange as this may sound, you may have a problem with bad or
incompatible ram. On a clean install, you shouldn't be getting these sorts
of errors, and if you do, bad ram is often the culprit.

Oh, and don;t worry about the 8mb. That's normal.
