XP Pro help

Grandson was using the PC. Now nothing will start when I click on a desktop
icon. Desktop icon names have .lnk appended to them. IE won't start,
Windows Explorere won't start, etc. Any ideas where to start lookng?

Sounds like Grandson screwed up your registry. Probably downloaded something that got through your firewall.
