Opening Links

On my desktop a lot of the links will not open properly. All the icons are
now lnk and won't open, any idea how I can fix this so the links will
function properly?

If you can run a virus and/or spyware scan do it (see if the program will
run then turn off system restore.) Problems like this are often related to
these bugs tampering with the registry. If you can't run the program try
and use Trend Micro House Call, if either method finds anything reboot and
see if things aren't better. You then need to continune cleaning by
running all available virus and spyware apps. Next install HijackThis and
have it "scan and save a log file" and post that log on one of the help
forums listed on TomCoyote or here for further help (remember to turn system
restore back on.)

If you can't do any of this, try to restore to an earlier date, reboot and
immediately scan the system for spyware and viruses. If you can't restore
try booting into "Safe Mode" and run your virus program or "Safe Mode With
Networking" and access Trend Micro House Call or try and restore in Safe
Mode.
