Xp pro and Auto logon

Hello,

I've seen several posts on the autologon with Xp but can't really find the
answer to my question.
Under XP Pro I have 3 accounts created
The Welcome screen is used with Icons for the login
All the userids have their own passwords, not really for a security problem
between each of them but more to be connected with a userid/password when
connected to network or Internet.
But Now When I try the autologon function with Tweak or "control
userpasswords2" I'm losing the multi user as the PC is connecting directly
with one userid/password.
So my question is : Is there a way to have a autologon for each users on the
platform ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Karl,

It's not possible for the simple reason that if each user was set to
autologon then how would the system know which one to use when booted? Pick
one at random? If you just want to click on the user icons, then the users
will need to remove their individual passwords.

Hi Rick
Thank you very much for your fast answer.
I thaught that password could be stored for each of the users then by
clicking on the userid icon you will select the corresponding user/password
couple.
I have some concerns to disable passwords and allow connections to Internet.
Tkanks anyway :)

Hi,

Doing that would defeat the purpose of having a user account password.

Karl, the purpose of the password is to provide login security to the
account. Doing what you are asking, if it were possible, is the exact
same thing as removing the passwords from each acccount.

Hi Rick & Rock,

I understand the purpose of the password in a multi user context, but in
this particular context, the accounts created are for my family.
2 kids my wife and me. we don't have any secret one for the others but we
want to be able to setup each account as we would like.
I fact we can think about disabling password for each users but I'm scared
to allow connection to internet without password.
That's why I'm looking for that kind of solution.
But this is not a major problem, we can enter our password anyway at logon.
Thanks for your posts.

The two are not the same. Whether you have a password to login to XP is
independent of having a password to login to your ISP.

Correct, But as soon as logged to Internet, not sure it is a good idea to
have a Session opened with a user that does not have any password. I know
that if I don't share any ressources no access should be possible but I have
a doubt with Scripts from Webpages.

But this is a different subject :)
Thank you
