XP Printer permissions

I had XP on 2 networked computers and added it to the PC
where the printers are connected. Now can't print from
the other PC's and can not access the "Security" tab by
pressing CTRL and right clicking on the printer icon.

Similar problem here except I can't get into Properties
from the laptop which isn't directly connected to the
printer. I'm getting "unable to connect" and "printer
spooler not running" messages despite both being selected
on the desktop (connected to the printer by usb cable).

For me, this changed when I switched from DSL service to
cable. I've checked the MS knowledge base, reinstalled
the printer driver, rebooted, etc.

Thx for the reply Alan

However, (on the Desktop which has the printer attached)
I opened Tools/Folder/Options/View and scrolled down the
list of advanced options, read word for word and did not
see "filesharing".

Incidentally, after I posted I realized that from the
Desktop I can see the Laptop but from the Laptop, I
cannot see or access the Desktop at all.

The laptop is my work PC so it's critical that I be able
to print from it. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Does your desktop has "printer and file sharing for microsoft networks" on
(Control Panel--network connections--local area connection-----properties)
