XP / NT4 issues

I have a new XP machine on a network that has multiple
workstations (2000 and XP - upgraded from 98). The
server is running NT4. The other XP machines can see
the server, and it can see them. The new machine can
see all of the other machines, but not the server (nor
can the server see it). The server is on a static IP,
the workstation is on a dynamic IP - but I also tried a
dynamic ip with no change in results. I cannot ping
either machine from the others. Any advice/ideas would
be most appreciated.

sounds like name resolution issue. do you have wins server? if not try to
enable netbios over tcp/ip.
