XP not sending email via SMTP port 2525

All my other machines on the network (Win2000, Me, 98, etc) can send email
via SMTP port 2525 just fine. But my XP Home laptop cannot send mail via
port 2525. Port 25 works fine.

Is it something with the XP built-in firewall? I've turned it off and added
an SMTP exception for port 2525 but with no luck still. I haven't rebooted,
so maybe that's it.

Any other ideas why this one machine wouldn't send mail via port 2525?
Thanks in advance!

SMTP runs on tcp port 25....When you send mail to some external mail server
THEY are running mail on tcp port 25. This is the default port. This is the
standard port.

Unless your ISP blocks port 25 like most and you have to configure the
server to use a different port, like 2525. Which we've done. It accepts
mail on both 25 and 2525. But the customer's ISP won't allow 25 so they
have to use 2525.

SBC has done this as far as I know, I'm sure other large ISPs have as well.

Anyway, other machines send it just fine using port 2525, it's just this one
XP laptop. For some reason, mail isn't getting out.

Because Port 25 is generally blocked by ISPs and I am not too sure
about port 2525, there is a port that certain company’s use for their
outgoing smtp ports that they cannot block and it will allow you to
send email from quite well.

Change your outgoing smtp port to 143
