XP Network Printing - Access Denied

W

WillieG

After setting up Microsoft network printing
(\\printserver\printque), the installation appears to work
fine but the printer displays the following
message: "Access Denied, unable to connect". This happens
with all network printers taht are setup.

Printing does however, work normally on all printers.
Anyone have ideas about what is going on here?

Yes the server does not have access to the client machines.

The spooler service on the "server" updates information to the spooler
service on the "clients". When one opens the Printer on the client, the
server communicates to the client and will display any jobs in the queue
window. If there is a permission issue the client sees the access denied
message.

here's the KB article regarding how this can occur.
