xp install

Hello

I purchased a xp home edition for this old p111 (on its last leg now) if
i install it and have to junk it , can i use the xp cd-rom on another
computer?
I think i already know the answer but want to make sure.

The question can be answered if one more fact is known: What type of
Windows XP Home Edition is it? OEM or retail version? If the former,
then the license dies with the first machine in which XP was installed.
If the latter, then the license can be transferred after XP is removed
from the other computer.

Is there some reason you don't want to say what version it is? If it's an
OEM version then no, it cannot be moved to a new computer. Per the license
it is tied to the first computer and if that dies so does the license. If
it's a retail copy then yes, it can be moved.

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not legitimately
transferable), simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on
and then install it on the new computer. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, the you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
