XP Incompatible Hard Drive? --- Huh?

I have Windows ME. I was performing an Upgrade to Home XP
this morning. The "compatibilty check" warned me that the
following hardware that "might not work" with XP
and "might need additional files to work with XP":

Disk Drives
IEEE-1248.4 Compatible WDM Mass Storage Device (HPH11)
IEEE-1248.4 IOS Port Driver (HPH11)

I assmune the first item is my hard drive. So, I am
scared as heck to perform the uprade if my hard
drive "might not work". I searched both the HP and Dell
(my computer) web sights for Windows 2000 or XP driver
upgrades for these devices. No luck.

So, have I wasted my money on Windows XP? What are the
chances my hard drive won't work if I complete the
upgrade? Has anyone out there had any experience with
this?

Oh yeah, by the way, according to the Microsoft Support
web site I am supposed to get free online support for
installation problems related to XP. But, when I tyr to
login to ask a question, it asks for the "Product ID" to
continue for "free support". Of course, you don't know
the product ID until after you install the upgrade!

go get you a new hd copy and/or clone the new hd with
existing hd, remove old hd then upgraded, after upgraded
is complete reattached old hd as slave then you have
additional drive or format the old hd

It's NOT a hard drive..... it's to do with your HP PhotoSmart printer -
which I therefore presume has a card reader built in.

There is a patch on the HP website.... but ensure the printer is
DISCONNECTED from the PC during the upgrade.

It's not a hard drive... it's a card reader on his PhotoSmart Printer. Save
him some money and do some research before you tell him to get a new hard
drive!

I was thinking of doing the same thing but called my brother inlaw who lives in another state. He said that a computer may not have compatible parts with the windows xp. SO his advice was to not do it. He said that there is a way on this website to check it for free but I am not sure how to do it.
