Re-Install XP

I have XP Professional (upgrade Verison) installed on one of my PC's. I want
to replace the Hard Drive and do a clean installation. However, since my XP
is an upgrade version, I do not have copies of my previous Windows Versions
that I upgraded from.

How can I re-install it if I do not have a previous Windows product to
upgrade from?

Get a previous version CD (Windows 9x, Windows ME, Windows 2000 in your
case, etc.) and use it when it asks.

How do you get one - that I cannot tell you - as you bought an upgrade
version and thus, should have kept the way to use that version around. ;-)

He means get it from a torrent.

But I'm under the impression that one (or a handful) of well-placed
files from a previous OS will suffice. A win-98 version of win.com
placed in the c:\windows directory of a reformatted drive perhaps?

No. Not what I said, not what I meant.
