I have a picture viewer called Multimedia Xplorer that I want to use to show
..jpg's. It is set as the program to open both jpg and jpeg but XP ignors the
association and open .jpg's Windows picture and Fax viewer. How can I make
XP do what I want?

find no string, only the words "Value Not Set"Should I
remove the item "ContextMenuHandlers" from the list?

I must tell you , I am not an expert in the registry.

First, be absolutely certain that you drilled down to
the correct key.

When you select "ShellImagePreview" if the right
screen does not display the same string that shows
in the example, I would suggest that you leave well
enough alone.

Does Windows Picture and Fax viewer open when
you double click an image file?

.Yes, picture and fax viewer opens on any jpg, jpeg.
That is what I am trying to get away from. I want the
photo editor like it used to do. I understand that photo
editor is part of office 97. Perhaps I should try to
reinstall office 97.

I guess you could right click an image file and
choose "OpenWith".

Sorry, I don't know anything about PhotoEditor.
