XP Home & XP Professional

My home pc was configured with XP Home Edition as a stand-alone unit. Now the
pc will be used in a network environment which requires XP Pro.
Can I uninstall the Home version & install the Pro version? If so, how is
this done?
If not, what are the significant consequences of installing the Pro on top
of the Home version?
Or do I really need the Pro version for network connectivity?

Probably none... it should work OK. But...
Or do I really need the Pro version for network connectivity?
No.

Hi:

Depending on your network complexity, but as far as I know, join a workgroup
or domain or using Internet is not a problem for Home version.

Upgrade from home to pro should be an easy tasks, based on what I have read
from reports and user experiences. But I have not done it so I am not sure.

Good luck.

Hi,

XP Home can not connect to a domain. You can upgrade your
XP Home to XP Pro without uninstalling. Usually best
recommmended to do a fresh install, but do whichever is
easier for you.

Hi Jeff:

Thanks for also let me know that Home cannot join to a domain, which I guess
that I've learned it mistakenly.

Thanks.

Hi,

No problem, I sometimes forget that some of the user
personal computers that are allowed to be used at work
have XP Home on them and tried to put them on the domain
the seeing that I can`t. Wish they upgrade to Pro, hate
the limited tools in Home.
