Xp Home SP2 Installation problems

okay so i have multiple copies of xp home and pro, and on the computer i am
currently building i have been running into a major problem, every time i
install xp home edition sp2 it goes through the whole instalation process
smoothly, and then with the final reboot it hangs on the windows xp loading
screen, then after 2 minutes or so it just restarts then goes to the windows
didnt load properly screen. from there it will not load any of the safe boot
choices and it will just continue to restart if you try to load windows
normally.

Now if i just install a copy of windows xp home edition sp1 i have no
problems, it installs smoothly and boots up and runs as it normally would.

The computer itself is all brand new except for the cd drives are older. I
have also installed the sp2 onto the same type of computer before with no
problems.
i am completley baffled as to what the problem is.

any response is greatly appreciated !
thanks

Multiple copies of xp on the same disk, slave,or multiple copies in the
library...
If on the same hd,you probably will have some problems,on a slave to C:,
thats ok,try after the SP2 installation you've scheduled a CHKDSK,and/or
before
xp tries to restart, boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter for password, then
type:
CHKDSK C: /p Or CHKDSK C: /R
