XP Home Licensing

I have bought 5 licenses for XP Home Edition. I was given very bad advice as
I wanted to network my office and that cannot be done with XP Home. Is there
anyway I can give those licenses back and get licenses for 2000 Pro or XP Pro?

XP Home or Pro can be networked (peer-to-peer) quite easily. XP Pro is only
required if the PC's will be joining a domain, with a server (Domain
Controller) running a server OS, such as Win2k Server or Win2k3 Server.

Where'd you get the idea that you cannot create a network with
WinXP Home? It's actually quite simple to do.

Usually, WinXP's Networking Wizard makes it simple and painless --
almost entirely automatic, in fact. There's a lot of useful,
easy-to-follow information in WinXP's Help & Support files, and here:

Home Networking

Networking Information

PracticallyNetworked Home

Steve Winograd's Networking FAQ

The only sort of networking that WinXP Home cannot do is act as a
client OS in a domain. Are you planning on having a dedicated server
(with the requisite server OS) and creating a domain?

Hi there

Thanks for your replies. Yes I know you can network XP Home peer to peer
but I need a server based network with a domain. Besides which my network
will probably be growing to nearly 20 computers in the very near future so XP
Home will be too limiting for that.

I really need to have an operating system that is a little more versatile
than that. Is there anyway I can return the licenses for XP Home and get for
XP Pro or 2000 Pro.

Thanks
