XP has serious fault with Word - no help after some 2200 electronic reports
in about 20 days. Problems with Word seem to have got worse each time
"updates available" were taken up. It now takes up to 20 Minutes to open a
Word File. It can take six hours to use "save as". Does one simply remove
all file, records ets and put them on disc and then re-install everything?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm for the steps
you should take before despairing. (And note that reinstalling rarely
helps.)
