XP hangs, hibernates on its own

Hi.
I have been having some problems with XP recently. I don't
know why all of the sudden it started, but XP on my laptop
occasionally does not start up correctly. I see the SOTEC
logo, and then the Windows XP Pro logo for a few seconds,
then the screen goes blank. The disks are running, but
nothing is on the screen. Sometimes if I hit the FN + F4
key (which changes the monitor, assuming a second monitor
is attached), the screen comes back on. Sometimes, I can
see it has actually gone into hibernate mode in the middle
of starting up. Other times, it starts up fine. Then goes
into hibernate mode while I am in the middle of working on
something. One day, it kept going into hibernate mode
every 1 or 2 minutes.

I have adjusted my power settings, I have run a memory
diagnostic, I have downloaded new Disply Driver, and now I
just do not know what to do.

Can anyone help? Thanks

I'm not familiar with what "SOTEC" means, but I would contact the laptop
mftr.'s tech support. Perhaps you are having a hardware problem such as
overheating.

I too am having the hibernation problem. XP jumps into hibernate while working . Don't have a clue as to what's wrong. Started after Sp2 installation.
