XP Freezes on Startup

My Windows XP Professional computer completely freezes
when I start up the computer. The loading bars freeze in
place, and I notice that a little white dot in the top
left corner of the screen is displayed for about
1.5seconds. I have no idea why this computer has just
stopped starting up like it usually did, and why it's
freezing. I have already opened up the case, made sure
nothing is loose and everything is snug inside, so a
hardware issue is not likely. I also can leave it running
for a day, and it wont load... Safe-mode will not work
either, it freezes too.

Please respond a.s.a.p. Thanks

Does the BIOS report the right amount of memory?

Perhaps try downloading a DOS memory test program?
