XP Freeze: mem usage 100%

Since my message of 11 Ap 2007 (excerpt below) I have noticed the
following:

I get many fewer XP freezes with 100% CPU usage when using FireFox than
MSIE. The freezes I get with FireFox running occur when the search
application launched from the XP start button is searching for files, or
when Comedy Central is delivering a series of video clips to me. Maybe this
info will help a diagnosis of those XP lock ups.

XP Freeze: mem usage 100%
XP has frozen on my Presario about 3 minutes after my first start up on
both 10 and then 11 April 2007. I have to reboot cold using the power
switch since XP does not respond to the start button. After about 4 of
those freeze and cold boot cycles, XP starts to run stable.
