Tracy,

I am guessing but I assume you are opening explorer by right clicking on the
start button and clicking on the "explore" menu option. Thats not the way to
open explorer.

Run Explorer by either
1. "Windows start key" and "E" Start key is next to the "Ctrl" key, bottom
left of a modern keyboard, hold it down and the press the "E" key.
This opens in My Computer by default.

2. use the "Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer" or copy
the icon from previous location onto your desktop. This opens in My documents
by default.

3. This is the one for you I think.
Right Click on the Desktop ( thats the background when nothing is running,
quite possibly the 'telly tubby landscape' if you have not changed it" a menu
should appear.
Select "New" and then another menu appears,
select "Shortcut".
A dialog window will open.
Click then "Browse" button,
Expand the "My Computer folder and navigate to the folder you want to open
as the default.
Click Next and give it a name like "Explorer in D:\bla\bla" and click the
finish button. An icon will appear on your desktop and when you double click
on it, it will open exporer in the directory you specified. You can have as
many of these as you feel the need to create.

Hope this helps

Go to Programs>Accessories - right click on the Windows Explorer icon,
select Properties and type the following into the Target box:

%systemroot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

For the c:, substitute d:\path-to-your-desired-folder.

You can also create a Desktop icon for Windows Explorer with the same
command.

Thankyou...it worked perfectly, although, as Chris adv, right clicking on
start menu isnt the way to open explorer. I c an now open explorer via
start, programs, acc etc and start at my desired folder AND I have a folder on
the desktop that can take me straight there....all my problems are
solved...thankyou both so much.... Tracy
