XP client doesn't receive drive mappings

I am configuring a test environment for a Windows 2003 server. The server
is a standalone PDC acting as a DNS, DHCP and Exchange server. I have a
Windows XP machine that is a DHCP client. I can log on to the server using
the client password and domain with the XP workstation; it creates a new
Windows profile for the client. The client can browse the web and attach to
Exchange using Outlook. The client does not receive their drive mappings
though. The client is attaching with an account that has administrative
rights.

If I terminal service into the server with that same account, it does map
the correct personal drives for that account. I'm not sure why it works for
TS but not a workstation client.

How did you specify the login script? Policy, or in the users' profile tab?

I tried both and had no luck. The XP machine is most likely the source of
the issue since my other XP machines get in file.

Can this PC browse to the Netlogon share and run the login script manually?
Any errors in your system event logs?

Yes, it runs fine - no errors.

One question here, is the AD domain name a single label name? XP Pro
machines have problems with DNS lookups if this is the case and would cause
numerous issues to snowball from it.

Ok, that was one thought. Is it XP Pro or home?

Another question, do the DNS addresses only pointing to your internal DNS
server only?

I got it working by moving the logon script and running it from the group
policy. I'm not sure why I couldn't get it working under the profiles. I
also needed to copy ifmember to that directory for it to work properly.

I see. I was under the assumption that this WAS a GPO script and NOT set in
the profile.
