XP and IBM TP 600E

I installed XP Pro on my IBM ThinkPad 600E (366mhz, 128MB
RAM) and it ran for a few days. Then I got the "blue
screen of death" and I have had no end of problems since.
I can boot sometimes but most of the time I get an error
screen and a numerical error code 19153.
Any suggestions? Fixes?

Based on the Intel 440BX Chipset, that ThinkPad probably
cannot support the ACPI HAL that most likely got installed.
You should open Device Manager and click the Computer
category. If it displays Advanced Configuration and Power
Interface PC then that is your problem. You should check
IBM's support page and see if a newer BIOS flash is available
for download. You will need to do a repair install and force
XP to install the Standard PC HAL. With IRQ Sharing in
place you may end up with several sub-systems on IRQ 9 or
11. Those ThinkPad's have many un-necessary options
enabled in the BIOS.

Correct. The Intel 440BX chipset does not support ACPI 1.1 or 1.2.
It does support ACPI version 1.0 used by Win98/SE/ME. W2K and XP both
use the later version of ACPI.

Don't know if a flash upgrade would help him but it's certainly worth
a try.
