I have succesfully installed WinXP Pro on many IBM 600e notebooks. Thie first objective is
to make sure the *latest* IBM 600e BIOS is installed on the notebook.

I have also succesfully installed Win2k on many IBM 600e notebooks. The same thing goes
about updating the BIOS.

That's great...I still have no way to get my Hdd running. I need dos or
windows installed to install a new bios...So my original question still
stands.., IS win xp not compatable on this machine?

No you don't. When you download the BIOS you can choose to download the version of BIOS
that will create a bootable floppy. It does all the work.

Your question does NOT still stand. I told you I have successfully installed WinXP on
numerous ThinkPad 600e notebooks. It is possible -- Period !

And you couldn't state that before ?

From a created floppy disk, create a bootable CDROM. The floppy drive on an IBM 600E is
kinda IIBM proprietary so I suggest you get one. A USB floppy drive may work in its place
but I suggest updating the notebook BIOS firsta dn there is no guarantee it will work
comparable to the IBM floppy drive.
