XP always trying to dial ISP

Why does Microsoft always insist on dialling out:

I use a proxy server to handle dialling.
The ISP connection is not set to dial automatically.
The setting in Internet Explorer is set to NEVER dial a connection.

Sybot and Adaware has already removed hundreds of entries - I shall check
out the article. Note it is not the Internet Explorer type dialup box that
is appearing - it is the box just saying cannot connect - password error. I
suspect since I removed the user name and password from the entry in IE
default modem's conenction.

Hi Jason,

It ain't Microsoft that's trying to dial out, see:

Modem Automatically Attempts a Dial-Up Connection [Q316530]

These may aid you in your quest:

Adaware www.lavasoft.de
Spyware Blaster: www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Spybot www.safer-networking.org

Info's reply is not here.

The tick was next to the connection - I have removed it and that may have
soved the problem.
Thanks,
