Something changed in my setup...don't know what- maybe SP2 or Spyware
removal...

Here's the situation :

When I boot up any my
After Login I get a message box that my copy of windows has not been
activated. (It was). "Do you want to activate it now ?" Yes/No

Yes : Product Activation Window pops up "Your Windows XP is already
activated" OK
OK : back to login

No : back to login

Starting in safe mode lets me do a few things but will not let me activate !!

I've already done the bit with regsvr32 and done a repair - I need to use my
PC

Help please

Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu

Start/Run
Type "regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll" ENTER
Type "regsvr32.exe licdll.dll" ENTER

Reboot.
Activate again
Reboot

Jupiter,

Thanks for the info, still no good.

I've also tried renaming the wpa.dbl file and also tried a reinstall repair
(including entering the activation code)

Can even log in as safe mode atthe moment !!

anything else I can try ?

All I really need to get off this PC are some photos and e-mail. If I do a
fresh install of the OS will I loose existing photo files and e-mail
(express) files ?

Thanks

:

You can get the data by putting the drive as a slave drive in another XP
or Win2k computer and copying off the data.
