Windows XP activation problems

Long stroy short. XP Pro would not boot, so I ran setup
over the old installation and rebooted. It wanted to
activate, so I ran the online activation tool. Got into
XP with no problem. Rebooted, and it came up with an
error saying that XP needs to be activated, so I try the
online activation, it doesn't work. I call the number,
and I activate XP over the phone. Now XP comes up with
the login screen, I login in and it tells me that XP needs
to be activated, so I click yes. It then tells me that
windows is already activated, and when I click OK, it
kicks me back to the login screen.

It's now stuck in this loop. I have searched online, but
I have yet to find an answer.

Greetings --

It also may be that your activation has become "unregistered."
Try this solution, posted by Carey Frisch, MS-MVP:

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and
hit enter again.
