Thankyou for your reply, i had found the article but it is vague about
what system files may be the problem, just giving smss.exe as an
example ans having replaced that with no joy im inclined to think that
this is not the file responsible, but having no other examples im now
at a loss, if it turned out to be a driver then i would still be at a
loss because the hard drive was re-partioned and re-formatted by the
instalation and so any problem drivers must have been integral to the
install cd, this takes out my choice so i have no idea what it is, im
sure i am not the only one with this problem but MS give such vague
proceedures that who could follow them a list of possible files may be
a good start i am at the moment trying something that i have a vague
memory of in the distant past that is enabling vga irq in the bios lets
hope that will sort it. However if you should have any other suggestions
then i would be greatfull for any other input you may give
