X-Box 360 Controller on Vista

Woohoo! Halo CE on the 360 controller. A little configuring, and plays
pretty good (once I get used to some neccesary modifications.)

Problem....

Instead of using my rather nice sound system, it wants to put all sound
through the 360 headset. Apparently, this effects all of Vista as I have to
reboot to get ANYTHING to play through the speakers after plugging in the
controller.

While this is nice for when the wife is asleep (and wouldn't mind the
capacity to do it on my X-Box for that reason), any other time it sucks. Any
way to shut that off?

In my experience its been the same as any other USB headset. This is how you
get around it

Right click on the sound icon near the clock
Click Playback Devices
Set your sound card/speakers to be the default device for playback
