WUAUCLT.exe

C

running on XP 32 -
After getting rid of BLASTER with the MS PATCH and all, I
keep getting pop-up window for more updates. I installed
it once, keeps having this pop-up. As it seemed to me
related with de WUAUCLT.exe in the processes, I killed
that exe.
Then I am free or those updates pop-up for the whole
session. But when I restart, it comes back.
IS THAT A REAL .exe from MSFT, or what else ? I have
somewhat of a paranoïa after my BLASTER experience. And I
am scarred to install updates that might not be the real
MSFT ones. So, till I get the right answer, I won't allow
that
WUAUCLT.exe to run on my PC.

Yes, that program comes with Windows - as you may have guessed, it's the
AutoUpdate client (the one that keeps looking for new updates).

As for the fact that it keeps offering updates after you've installed them -
I believe this is a known problem (it should go away after a while). You may
want to check with the microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup.
