Wrong BIOS on K8V deluxe

I bougth second hand a Asus K8V de luxe with 3com lan. Now windows did not
report a 1394 and no sound. Investigation brought me to the concussion that
the bios from the k*v basic was flashed into the bioschip. Update now is
only possible with the asus program with the basic bios. Now fire wire sound
and two SATA are not working. Who knows a solution to flash the correct bios
into the chip?

Try reading the motherboard manual. If one did not come with the board then
just download it.

I read the manual. According this the board is a K9V de luxe. The wire lan
is also on the board so no mistake with that. The problem is that the bios
update programs are checking the current bios on the board. The program
reports when I want to correct the problem the the bios is not for this
board and then a correct update is not possible

Do not use the Widows installer to flash the BIOS. Go to the ASUS website
and download the BIOS flash that installs from a floppy disk. Make sure you
get the latest *non-BETA* version for your board. Follow the instructions
to flash from DOS from the diskette you created.

While many boards allow flashing BIOS from within Windows, it is not the way
it should be done.

Is this related to why my ASUS K8V SE motherboard failed to boot up after the
last BIOS upgrade a few weeks ago? Basically, the BIOS upgrade went well in
Windows. Rebooted, It looked good. Shut down the system. Swapped RAM. Turned
it back on, dead. Checked everything like cables, old RAM, listen to any
voices (errors), etc. Dead!
