writing formulas with exponants in Office Pro for 95

I need to write formulas in the Office Pro for 95's Word (Win 98 is my OS)program, but I can not find how to write a formula with an exponent. Like with E=MC2, how do I make it look like the C is squared? I did find the symbol for square root, but can not any exponents. Any info on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You,
Becky

Hi Becky,

For ² hold down the Alt key and type 0178 on the numeric keypad; for ³, type
0179.

Or superscript the numbers

Or insert and Equation object (Select Object from the Insert menu and select
the Microsoft Equation item)

The easiest way is to apply the Superscript font property to the numbers.
Select the number and Format | Font: Superscript or use the keyboard
shortcut Ctrl+Plus Sign (Ctrl+Shift+=).

Becky, I'm having the same problem with using exponents. I know in Word you can go Insert and then Symbol and get exponents like 1, 2, and 3 but I need to make exponents with different numbers also. How do you make any exponent you want.

Use the Superscript command. If you use it a lot, you can put the icon on
an existing toolbar. To do so:

1. Right-click the toolbar area and select "Customize"
2. Click the "Commands" TAB
3. Select the "Format" category
4. On the right, scroll down and find the Superscript and/or Subscript
commands
5. Click and drag them to an existing toolbar (I put them next to the U
(underline) command
