Writing Back out to DV Camera encounters blanks where video should be

I have a Cony DCR[TRV27 Mini DV Camera and am Using
MovieMaler V2 with Service Pack 1 Applied. After I have
finished editing a movie and I want to write it back out
to the DV tape, I execute the process with no errors. At
least no errors that the system indicates. But when I
watch the new movie on my DV tape, there are several
blank spots where it appears the signal from the computer
simply dropped off... then it picks right back up after
the lost segment... it is usually only a second or two.
I have noticed that I can force it to occur by moving my
mouse during the writing back out to tape... or by
staring another program... just about anything my
computer does while the tape is creating will cause the
blank spots. I have a Pentium 833 processor with 384MB
RAM and 20GB of free hard drive space. I have tried to
stop all other applications (indeed the only application
in the XP Current Tasks List is MovieMaker). I have
killed my internet connection and just about every other
process I can find... I have tried to bump up Mivie Maker
in the priority list... Nothing seems to work. Help...
I am using a Texas Instruments IEEE1394 Bus Controller
with a driver 5.1.2535.0 signed 7/1/2001 and my Sony DV
Camcorder is using a driver 5.1.2600.0 with the same
signature date. I am at a loss as to who I should check
with... Sony does not claim to have a more current
driver... and Pinnacle Systems that provided the card
with their Pinnacle DV V1.05 claims that they do not
provide drivers at all... and they should come from
Microsoft....

Your hard drive needs to be in top shape to export cleanly... free up space
and defrag it. Also, try the WinDV utility and see if you have better
success with it. There's a link on the Camcorders > Intro page of
