Wowfx.dll is not a valid windows image

Hi. New to this whole thing. When I boot my computer, I keep getting this message: The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\wowfx.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

i can't get anything working. I needed new security software and purchased Norton, but it won't open. Nothing is opening.

HelP!
