WOWEXEC causing general protection fault

Please advise: when trying to install a program on
Windows XP Home edition I get this error: WOWEXEC caused
a general protection fault in module
mmsystem.dll@000A:0032. I can't get the program to
install at all....any ideas what it causing this?

That file is associated with your video drivers.
Go to the video card/computer manufacturer website and get the latest
Windows XP drivers.

Whatever program you are trying to install must be an old DOS program.
wowexec.exe = Windows Win16 Application Launcher
