'Would you like to disconnect from the Internet?' message

Guest

This message seems to pop up almost every time I use the Back arrow or close
a window. It only takes a moment to say 'No' but it is irritating all the
same and has only started recently. I can't remember exactly when it started
- but it could have been after I changed to Internet Explorer 7.
Does anyone has any idea how I can stop it doing this? If you do, please
use very simple words. Thank you very much.

In Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, Dial Up Connection Settings, Advanced. Deselect the following options:

"Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed"
(and)
"Disconnect if idle for ...."

Dear Ramesh
Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the most
important sentences at the end. I got as far as Tools, Internet Options,
Connections tab and then the heading was 'Dial-up & Virtual Private Network
settings' and the only Advanced I could see was another tab (which I clicked
on but it didn't seem relevant). Went back to the Connections tab and
clicked on Settings but that took me to my Tesco.net settings and I couldn't
see 'Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed' or 'Disconnect if
idle for .....'

Your instructions were so straightforward but, though I've gone through it
all a few times, I can't find the Disconnect bits anywhere. Could you
possibly tell me where I am going wrong?

Many thanks
Fran

Fran,

Are you referring to the dialog with title "Dial-up Connection settings"? In that dialog, click "Advanced"
