Works Suite 2004

We recently purchased a new Dell Dimension 3000 XP. It came with Works Suite
2004 which did not include Excel or Power Point. This Works Suite program
does have a spreadsheet, however, it is not Excel. I want to know what
software to buy or upgrade to so that I can receive at least Excel and Power
Point.

Thanks,
Diane

You need MS Office for MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint & OUtlook. Costly, but MS
Works is like a "lite" version of MS Office.

You can buy the Office Upgrade version as MS Works is a qualifying product.

Hi - Microsoft Office is what you want - Works doesn't have Office apps in
it. You can buy various 'flavors' of Office - perhaps Office 2003 Small
Business or Standard will give you what you want. You probably would've
gotten this for less $ if you'd bundled it with your Dell....

Or if all you want is to view Excel/PP files, you can download free viewers
for each at MS' downloads page.

That's correct. No version of Works has ever included either of
these.

You can buy Excel and you can buy PowerPoint. Each is sold
separately. Alternatively you can buy Microsoft Office, which
includes Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and perhaps other
products, depending on which edition you select. Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/compare.mspx to
see the difference between the Office 2003 editions.

We believe we have answered our own question. We went to Staples last night
and the salesperson recommended we purchase the Microsoft Office Student and
Teacher Edition 2003 (model # 503-00288 or 503-00298 on line). It costs only
$139 and he claims it has the full versions of Excel 2003 and Power Point
2003.

Thanks to everyone that replied.
Have a Great Holiday!

Works Suite does include Microsoft Word as the word processor
component, but does not have any other Office components.

Works has the basic Microsoft Works word processor component.
